Background:
The evening English School Program has been in existence since June 2002 and run by a young, energetic people around the community. Prior to 2002, the school was run by a businessman. Vanroth was one of his employees. In late 2002, due to lacking of fund, the English school faced closure. Vanroth, now a Director of KCD, did not want to see this happen to the community. The closure would have dramatically affected many young kids' lives. He used his own money saving to salvage the school. In October 2007, KCD was registered in Battambang provincial Hall and Battambang Department of Education Youth and Sport.
Where We Are:
We are working in the Ek Phnom Hight School at 5 pm to 6 pm.
Ek Phnom High School locates a long Sangker river around 15 km from Battambang town.
It is in Prek Luong Village, Prek Luong Commune, Ek Phnom District, Battambang Province.
Who We Are:
We are the local persons living round this area.
We are the government teachers, university students, and NGO Staff.
We join together to help our own community by our owns and we also welcome the outside donation/help.
This is the only way that we hope that our project will be the sustainable project.
Why We do:
Since we went to study in the town and we couldn't catch the courses well in the university because we didn't have good English and Computer skills, so we try to grow our young generations with these good skills.
There are many poor families don't courage their children to go to school when they meet some little problems with state school. Eventhough our government try to make betterment the education system but there is still some bad people try to take this choice to get money.
Moreover the place is a bit far from the town most of the families can't support their children to study in the town while they are in Primary School or High School and the fee of these courses are kind of expensive.
Our Target:
We work with the main three communes, Prek Khpob, Prek Norin and Prek Luong which are in the Ek Phnom District, Battambang Province, Cambodia.
All children from poor households in the communes are our target.
We work for humanity not for Race, Religion, or others.....
